Technical Artist
Location: Remote
Bad Rhino Studios is currently seeking a talented Tech Artist to help us in developing AAA quality projects on next gen gaming platforms. You should ideally have extensive Unreal experience as many of the challenges we encounter require depth of knowledge with Unreal Engine. You should be first and foremost a team player, while also having the ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously.
Responsibilities
- Solving complex technical issues during development
- Contribute to building amazing PC/Console experiences Unreal
- Lighting and Shading scenes and assets in Unreal
- Using Unreal’s particle system to design and create FX
- Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production
- Debug performance of frame rate and memory
- Monitor and report on the performance of the game
- Support the development team with level implementation in Unreal
- Provide the art team with guidelinesĀ for art content creation for Unreal
- Work with the art team to make levels efficient and meet run-time performance requirements
- Help to improve technical pipelines and development creation techniques/tools
- Researching and developing technical tools for a project
- Setting up and advising on workflows for art production
- Supporting artists and engineers in the development pipeline
- Assisting in asset performance and validation
- Document, prototype, and improve the art pipeline (desirable)
Requirements
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in VFX
- A strong portfolio or demo reel
- Solid understanding of art and animation pipelines
- Unreal Engine 4 & 5
- Scripting skills
- Ability to identify the best tools and software to maximize game delivery
- Rendering and post-effects experience
- Understanding of rigging and animation
- Experience in physics simulations
- Shader development experience
- High level artistic skills – proportion, color, composition
- Creative mindset and ability to overcome technical challenges
- Experience in digital art content creation – high and low-poly modeling, unwrapping, baking, texturing, level art, etc
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with differences between creative and technical teams
- Expert in Blueprints, materials, level streaming – able to rapidly prototype features using Blueprints/shaders
- Analyze content using profiling tools and work with developer to reduce scene complexity
